Story #8 The Life's Truth

It was the warm autumn day…Primitive start you would say…I wouldn’t be that quick in judging..because it doesn’t matter that kind of day it was, but  what exactly happen in this day  and how it influence the future, right?
So, here we are: the day was warm in autumn when two folks were standing on their military service post on the entrance to the Embassy in city X, capital of the country Y.
They were standing there hungry, as usual, - eighteen years old men are always hungry-and dreamed of  dinner.  They were realistic- do not  expect delicious mom’s dishes in the army’s kitchen, but they did not care anymore what the food will look and taste like…staying eight hours on one place were enough to made them desperate for any food. And the munitions were quiet heavy- heavy automat, length with the bullets, thick long sleeved uniform shirt and pants, shoes haven’t fit anymore.
Today they were on the post to defeat the Russian Embassy. The building was huge by size and strange as a consistence – Russian clerks didn’t understand the aboriginal language and, trying to be more understandable, were gesticulating, raising tone, but not studying the language. The interesting part of the communication was: no one visitor did an attempt to complain- first, they didn’t  know whom to and were sure it’s useless, and second, they were scared.
The two skinny, tall guys surprised were looking at the clerk’s work, noticed everything, but knew exactly that this is not their business- the fine sides of the Embassy work. The building was placed in a park- fresh green bushes and trees were surrounding the high concrete fence , protected the Embassy building and , in a tall trees were hiding the houses of city’s money holders “brothers”- the area was clean, central and expensive. It was quiet  and sunny this day.
One of the guys, half Russian, half aborigine by blood, suddenly noticed that over  the neighbor’s house fence flew a heavy bag and fell on the Embassy’s side. The boys stunned- what’s happening was an honest arrogance and insult for the society- someone was stealing from the house in front of them and even haven’t hiding. Above the fence showed up the shaved head and then whole ungainly theft’s body, he jumped on the ground and looked around. Saw the solders, cleaned his clothes from the dust, picked up the bag and walked away by the alley as he left his work place. As it was the usual  procedure.
Solders exchanged the looks- what  they had to do now? Half-Russian told his co-post – Stay here, I am going to stop a bastard. Second guy wasn’t agree- regulations doesn’t allowed them to leave the post before the change came. To use the phone they weren’t allowed also- it wasn’t an assault to the Embassy. There weren’t instructions for the situations like this…The first guy took the decision by the logic of peace time- the  theft had to be punished twice- for  the arrogance one and for the main idea that the theft must be punished second. Half-Russian felt the unfairness of the situation and acted, his co-post got scared…
Do you know people who are scared of taking the decisions? They usually wait on the edge when the situation is solved by someone or itself.. And if someone took a decision- great! There are two ways since than- if everything goes right- the waiters will be heroes too. But it  goes wrong, sorry, they asked the mate to follow the rule but no one heard them….convenient position..It was this kind of  situation …Any power  would be pleased to have this mate as a servant..but the top-people do not have to forget that they can rely only on something that has resistance- this is a nature’s law…physical law..unbreakable because they exist independently of the power having and servants..
The time passes by, the seconds were running- the decision supposed to be taken right away- the criminal was almost approached the alley  turn.Со, more determinate, intuitive part of the metis pushe him to run after the figure with the bag. Stop!
“Shaved head” turned toward the running solder puzzled and burst to run. He was running fast, snickers are more convenient shoes as boots are. Even a heavy bag in the hands of a chased man haven’t cut the distance between them. “Stop! I’ll shoot!” The bag was thrown right away and a theft took flight forward to the living area, where are people walk, where to hide wont be a problem. They passed through the wide boulevard voiding the cars. A chaser shot in the air, but a theft only added speed- logically right decision- in every entrance to the apartments in the  twenty floors tall buildings he could hide and escape! This was clear to the solder too;  in short overhauled the “shaved head”, jumped on his back, and together they fell on the asphalt. While two young men were fighting, the crowd, collected around them, was trying to make up some story of  the reason for the battle and a shooting. The fight haven’t last long- somebody called  police and they arrived surprisingly fast-shooting  in a living area nearby the Embassy  was something serious.
The solder and the theft were loaded in the police cars and brought to the office. The solder was menaced a jail for the brake of regulations; the criminal- a jail for a multiple thievery in the city as it was discovered.
Both of them were lucky. Solder had a luck to have a protection from the high officer from the division he had been serving. A crime because he was bought out by his  “commander”.
This lesson was painful to the solder and left him helpless facing questions like What would be right to do if it would happen again? Why the mate witnessed against him in the investigation? How the situation could finish if  the fair officer haven’t stand for him? How to believe the  justice if the criminal was freed? Tough questions…
